No we did not take a right when we should have taken a left...As we walked to meet our UBER drive Christy called! This was the first call since she left on vacation to Costa Rica. She is having a great time and fly's home on Monday. Then...off to Montana.
Washington
HEAT ADVISORY! 103 degrees expected in the Capital.
We decided to leave Ilsa in Mufasa and caught UBER to the
Capital. It really is an impressive site to see all the riders arrive after 67
days crossing the US. Yes Pete, they took 67 days – remember our 14? We did not look nearly as fit when we finished. Maybe we should have done it slower.
Anyway, Cathy becomes Chair of The Ability Experience in
October and is obviously very proud of this group of riders and all the Journey of
Hope riders since the first solo rider in 1983. This was the 5th
arrival for Cathy and I can see why it is a fun event. All the families gathered
right in front of the Capital steps and with a police escort, the 108 riders
and support crews rode down Pennsylvania Avenue to finish their ride.
A quick UBER ride back to the RV – time to cool off. Cathy
has the reception this evening. We broke out the new printer and made final edits to her speech before sending her on her way back to the hotel.
Printer? Yes, Mufasa has his own printer and big screen, hot
spot for 15 devices, two computers, two iPad’s, and 2 iPhones. I think we will
be able to stay in touch as the journey continues.
