Day 1 – Charlotte to Washington, DC

We left about 6:45 AM and took I-77 North to drive through the Shenandoah Valley. Climbing the mountains, you quickly learn to stay out of the way of the 18-Wheelers. They might crawl up the hills but they let it go on the downhills. This is especially important when you move Mufasa (Our name for the RV) into the left lane to overtake. Looking back in your side mirrors it looks like that 18-wheeler is a long way back, only to have it right on your tail and not slowing down! Get out of the way or you could get run over.

Cathy worked a few hours and I drove. We found gas for $1.75 per gallon. This is a big deal when you need 80 plus gallons. We arrived in DC about 4:00. We are at Cherry Hill Park. Nice place.

Tomorrow we go to the Capital Steps to watch The Journey of Hope arrive after a bicycle ride across the US.  More on that tomorrow.
