While the girls are at the beach I have continued my preparation for the ride across (and back). I purchased a tent today and, upon arriving at home, set it up in the back yard. I am sure as I use this tent it will become easier and faster to set up. It is a 3 man tent - lots of room to move about and should be as comfortable as it can possible be.
A small gas stove - to make morning coffee and I should be all set. The plan is to be as self sufficent as possible so if the support vehicle is not available or goes a different route I will be able to continue on. The bike has three compartments - the top case will be used for all electronic stuff (my favoriate technical term). I will carry my laptop for email and checking in with the office as well as it will let me update my GPS as I cross the country. Camera equipment and Blackberry will also be in the top case. The two sides cases will be used for clothing. The rear seat will be for camping equipment. The camping equipment will also double as a back rest.
