Sunday Morning

We decided to get going early this morning and we just about made it. About 45 minutes earlier than Saturday.  Not bad.

Last Christmas Cathy gave me a RV Heated Water Hose. Basically an insulated water hose with the ability to plug it into an electrical outlet and run heat around the casing to keep the water from freezing. Nice gift but it has been in the box on the RV for 11 months.  Last night I decided to use is as we had freeze warnings.

I must admit I approached the water connection with some caution this morning - it was about 23 degrees but everything was working inside. I realized that I should have tested the electrical connection last night but it was too late now. I must admit I smiled when I saw running water. Another item that worked as advertised.

The bunk would not go up this morning. The bunk going up is important as you cannot drive the RV with the bunk in the down position. After spending about 10 minutes of checking what I knew to check I started the engine. Then I realized it might have a safety switch that does not allow the bunk to move if the engine is on, much like the slide out, so I turned the engine off, and bingo - the bunk went up.

As we started down the road Cathy mentioned the batteries where low when I disconnected from the outside power - an alarm had sounded. Once the engine was running, the batteries came back to full power and I have since read that batteries don't like the cold. This lack of power was   what caused the bunk problem. Lesson learned: Leave the generator in standby mode at night in the cold weather so if the batteries do start to lose power, the generator will kick in and charge them up.

We are on Highway 29 heading north. We will turn west again onto Highway 80 towards Cheyenne in 23 miles.
