Day Five: Pikes Peak

So, I made it to the top of Pikes Peak. 14,100 feet. Unfortunately the cars in front were going very slow and caused my bike to overheat. By overheat I mean steam blowing out from under the bike. Pulled over and let it cool for awhile before going to the top...yes, set an objective and get it done no matter what.

On the way down the bike was fine and after another 100 miles she was running fine. Might ride into Denver tomorrow to get it checked out. Will see in the morning.

Back to Pikes Peak...amazing. The road has no guard rails. If you miss a turn you would not stop for a long time. the view was breathtaking. And it is difficult to take a good deep breath at that altitude.

At the camp site for the night. Very tired but relaxed and glad I did it. Tomorrow will be Rocky Mountian State Park for two days.

I should have taught you my high altitude breathing ~ it works a charm. Delighted to know you made it to the top and are back down safely. Liz
