Time for the tax ride and news from IBA

Earlier this week I received the following from the Iron Butt Association. I had applied for the rally of all rallys. 11,000 miles in 11 days. It is a limited rally and a very big challenge. However, much to the relief of family members:

I'm so sorry that this is not the letter you were hoping to receive.
By far the most difficult part of my job is to notify those of you whose entry was not pulled in the draw. I am painfully aware that many of you have applied to ride multiple times; believe me, I truly wish we could accommodate every applicant. Unfortunately, the complexity of running an 11-day rally along with the need to process riders in a timely manner necessitates restricting the number of entrants.

As in 2007, the wait list is so large as to not be manageable, there will be no wait list for the 2009 IBR.

I want to personally thank each of you who entered the 2009 IBR drawing; your application speaks volumes about your commitment to Long Distance Riding. Your continued support of the Iron Butt Association and participation in rallies and events ensures that the sport we all love will thrive in the years ahead.

Sincerely,

Lisa Landry
2009 IBR Rallymaster

So tomorrow I go and ride the Tax Run. It is the 9th year and I am looking forward to seeing the people from last year - a number of them I only see once a year. I will post a report shortly after the ride.
