Total Miles = 1899
Miles today = 350
The day started with a thick layer of fog. You could hardly see the bike from the tent. I decided to wait an hour or so before heading to the grocery store to re-supply. I am still flying solo, but determined as ever to make it to PEI.
Price Edward Island is the northern most point of my trip. Once I turn around in PEI every mile will be heading home and that is always easier. You also ride with the feeling of satisfaction that you set out to do something and you did it.
Because of the fog I got on the highway. I wanted to go the back roads but it would not have been safe – had I known that “St. Johns is always foggy” and as soon as you are 25 miles out of town you are in clear blue skys I would have made a different choice.
I was crossing into PEI by lunch time. I am starting to become an attraction to the locals. Two guys, with a full set of teeth between them approached me at a welcome center. They had a bet going between them of what NC meant on my license plate. North Caroline I replied to the question and was almost invited into their home. I think the looser had bet dinner or something. Anyway after crossing the bridge and taking the appropriate pictures – you have to have proof of the adventure – I met up with more locals. “Go to Nova Scotia”, “this place is full of tourists with RV’s”, “Best riding is south of Halifax”. Ok, so the locals have not steered me wrong yet so I turned the bike around and headed another 160 miles down the road.
Nova Scotia is amazing. The smell of the trees and views are incredible. It was an easy 160 miles. I am just west of Halifax.
Tomorrow I will ride the Lighthouse Trail on the south west side of Nova Scotia. I am approximately 330 miles from my ferry so I have plenty of time.
The light is fading so I will post this and maybe add more in the AM.
