Day 4 – Albuquerque to Grand Canyon – 398 Miles

As I type this we are at a campsite over looking the Grand Canyon. We are all exhausted.

The day started with 135 miles on I-40 to Gallup. At Gallup we stopped for breakfast at Denney’s. I will spare you the details but all four of us suffered greatly. It took us almost an hour after breakfast to leave.

The ride on 264 across Arizona was incredible. At one point Pete said “have we left earth? It was so barren, so remote all I could think of was I hoped the phrase “legendary BMW reliability” was true. It was 106 degrees and you could just feel the heart coming off the road.

We went to the edge of the Grand Canyon to watch the sun go down. The incredible thing was that as the sun went down it highlighted different areas of the canyon.

The Grand Canyon is breathtaking. No picture can do it justice.
Tomorrow is Las Vegas.
