Day 13 - Mt. Rushmore to Rockport Mo. - 649 miles

Lot's of highway today - started out on I-90 for 400 miles, turned right onto I-26 and continued for 249 miles! Had rain for a couple hundred miles but temperature was fine so we kept going. Pete and I rode side-by-side for the last hundred miles - pure fun with a great riding buddy. Looked at the Super 8 Motel but decided our trusty tents were more inviting! 1092 miles left between here and 412 Willow Brook Dr.!!!! Cathy, put the beer, gin and wine on ice....I want a selection! Looking forward to North Carolina unless a detour to Canada is offered.....just kidding ladies!

Will be very glad to have you back in CLT but will miss the early morning briefings from 'somewhere in the heartland.'
Here it is currently 70 degrees, muggy and misty. Take care, regards to all.

Hey Guys!!!
Been following (and catching up on) your FANTASTIC trip from Prologue up to today. (Tammy gave us the blog address last Friday.) For us it's been a nostalgic journey also - between the 2 of us we've done the coast to coast RT 3 times. And from the East Coast to the Rockies (from N. Mex to Calgary)and back 3 times. In California we were with you (longingly in spirit) as you drove thru each segment - we lived in both Northern Cal and Southern Cal for almost 20 years. Traveled and camped with our 3 kids all over the state. Looking forward to seeing you all home safe (today or tomorrow - ?). WHAT A FANTASTIC VOYAGE!!! (Brad - Betty only wishes she had known you were going thru Vegas, and she would have given you a roll of nickles to drop in the slots for her - if there are any nickle slot machines left.)

Wow, what a fantastic journey - it reminds me of the recent voyage of Discovery as I have been reading the daily updates and looking at the pics. OK, so it's not exactly like space walking, but pretty impressive none the less. Have a safe trip back to touchdown in Charlotte!
