Day 10 Wendover, NV (Bonneville Flats) to Montpelier, ID 340 miles (4136 miles total)

We are in a campsite in Montpelier, ID. Another hot ride but we are starting to expect that.

We started out by going to the Bonneville Salt Flats. We arrived and there was a policeman standing by and a collection of new Ford cars. Unfortunately Ford was shooting a commercial and we could not race across the flats. I can feel the sigh of relief from here. Anyway we were allowed to drive on to the flats, close to the entry point and take some photos. Talking to the policeman the rules are: Get onto the flats and you are on your own. I tasted the flats and it was very salty, and somewhat mushy. Pete got the LT up to around (sorry, cannot post) on the way out. Brad had to get a car wash to get the salt of his truck. My LT has a wife restrictor on it so it only goes 55 MPH.

We proceeded on I-80 to Salt Lake City and had lunch in Park City, UT – the home of the 200? Winter Olympics. We had to drag Brad away from all the athletic sights.

After lunch I faded. It was 104 degrees again and I have come to the conclusion I need to ride early and late. During the day it is just to hot. After a Starbucks shot we rode 89 from Everston, WY to Montpelier, ID. We rode past Bear Lake, which is absolutely a site to see. It is dark blue and BIG.

Tomorrow we will see Yellowstone – we are 200 miles away.

It looks like Lake Winnebago during sturgeon season! Only about 80 degrees warmer! Brad aren't you glad you had your windows tinted!?

Hopefully Yellowstone will be cooler?

Hugs to all, ride safe,
tammy

You guys have bigger cajones than anyone I've ever known ... we are thoroughly enjoying the daily accounts of the trip ... can't wait to see more of the photos when you get back ... next time head south and ride around Florida, north to south and then south to north ... it would be a lot cooler but not nearly as much fun ... ride safely ...
